At the end of the day, I've been a bit disappointed by the quality & number of photos I've taken. I'm trying not to be too hard on myself. I have taken a lot more photos with my Canon DSLR this week than normal, but I cannot carry it and Lizzy all around the house, or out of the house with all of the things I have to take with me in the diaper bag.
I'm glad for the break I'm taking while we go on our first weekend trip as a family. I think if I was documenting the entire week, I would get a bit burnt out.
I'm already forgetting to take photos of things, but I'm trying not to beat myself up over it. I can only do so much & it's totally okay. At the end of the day, I usually don't get any record of our normal daily routine, so any bit I can get is a plus.
So here's a look at our Tuesday.
4:30 am : Lizzy is awake & on the monitor I see that she has rolled over- a new thing for her. Get her, change her diaper & bring her to our bed to breastfeed. Simon wakes up at 5 and I lay her in bed next to me to sleep.
7:30 am : We wake up. I make breakfast, Kashi hot cereal this morning, as I'm getting tired of my usual toast & peanut butter. I fix her a bottle & pump while she eats. We hang out in bed while I read through blogs. Lizzy goes on her playmat while I get ready & listen to the news on NPR.
9am : I give Lizzy a 10 minute baking soda bath. She is loving her 'ribbit' frog in the bath. I get her dressed and figure out our dinner plans for tonight before I sit down to pump & feed Lizzy again.
10am : We pack up and leave the house for the British mum's coffee meeting. Even though I'm not British, since Simon is British & Lizzy is 1/2 British, it's important to us that we still have that connection. When we arrive, the place is packed, but I sit next to Jo, a mum I met last week. She offers to hold Elizabeth while I eat my muffin. My friend, Fiona, comes at 11 am and we all chat.
11:30 am : We leave the cafe and go to Whole Foods first for salmon & wine. Lizzy sleeps in her stroller. We then run to Target. This trip takes long than I want & I have to feed Lizzy before we check out.
1pm: I leave Target & go to the post office in our local hardware store. I got my package prepared at home that morning, but I didn't have a box, so a stop is necessary. Lizzy is hungry & while I'm taping up the package (a mini album for a friend) I realize that I didn't photograph my project. I try my best to forget about it & go on, but for a second I thought about taking it outside and just photographing it with my iPhone, but I think twice when Lizzy really starts crying.
2pm : We get home & I immediately change Lizzy and make myself a sandwich before taking L into the bedroom to feed/pump. I watch Friday's episode of Days of Our Lives on Hulu.
4pm : Lizzy is pretty grumpy, so I take her into the nursery to rock her. We both fall asleep, but I wake up quickly and put her down. I go tidy up the kitchen, make the bed, put on some laundry and get an iced coffee. I finish cleaning my office and Lizzy wakes up. I bring her in the office to pump/feed & she snoozes in my lap.
6pm : My brother calls to chat, which makes me happy. I start dinner & put Lizzy in her rocker, which she is trying her best to escape from.
7pm : Simon gets home, changes and we all eat. We hurry to take Toby on a walk before dark. Mosquitos are everywhere. When we get back I get her ready for a bath & throw her diapers in the wash. Afterward, I feed her a bottle & breastfeed. President Obama is on the television talking about Syria.
9pm : I put Lizzy to bed, fold laundry, clean up the kitchen & sanitize bottles & pumping pieces. Go in my office at 9:45 to blog, but having issues with uploading photos so it takes me longer than usual.
11:30pm : Finish up for the night & get ready for bed.
