Layered Carnations with Gina K. Designs
/Hello, and happy weekend! On Saturday, I was blessed to teach a class at my church for our annual Women’s Day, which had the theme ‘blessed and unstressed.’ I knew that the women in my church would love Gina K. Designs products, and when I approached Gina with the idea, she generously sponsored the event, along with Catherine from Scrapbook & Cards Today, who sent a box of fresh, new blending brushes!
I taught almost 40 women how to create two cards, showing techniques like ink blending, die cutting, splattering, and layering! Take a look at the cards we created:
These two cards are simple to create, but they’re perfect for new crafters or seasoned cardmakers! Let’s take a look at each one:
Our first card used the stencil as-is, centering the floral design on the center of an A2-sized card front. Innocent Pink and Dusty Rose paired to create the flowers, and Jelly Bean Green and Fresh Asparagus the greenery. This panel was die-cut using the stitched Master Layouts 2 die, then layered with a piece of Dusty Rose cardstock, sized at 4 x 5-1/4”.
To add a bit of shimmer, I also splattered gold watercolor paint onto the front. It dries quickly and creates a ‘wow’ factor on the front of the card.
I cut many sentiments so that everyone could choose what they wanted the most, and I selected Birthday Wishes from the Cheers to Another Year Stamp and coordinating die. I finished off the card with Angel Aura rhinestones.
On our second card, we stenciled the image twice—once from the bottom right corner, then from the upper left corner of the A2 panel, using the same ink colors as before. We die-cut this panel again with the stitched Master Layouts 2 die, keeping the frame and adhering it to an A2 folded card base. Then the center portion was popped up in the middle, lining it up with the frame.
We also added gold splatter to this card, as well as Angel Aura rhinestones. I finished off with the ‘hello friend’ sentiment from the Spring Clusters stamp and coordinating die. I love the clean look of this card, and the beautiful white space around the florals.
The ladies loved the cards and learning how to create such professional designs with easy-to-use stencils and ink! Special thanks to Gina K. and Catherine at Scrapbook & Cards Today for making this class possible. It was so much fun, and if you happen to have the products that we created with, I hope you’ll pull them out and give them some love this week
Happy creating!
