Mini Shaker Valentines with Taylored Expressions

Hello, friends! Happy 2024! I’m so glad that you stopped by my blog today!

It’s snowy and bitterly cold outside, so I’m creating rainbows to cheer me up! Valentine’s Day is coming, and instead of using a standard color palette of reds & pinks, I broadened my color spectrum. Look at the mini Valentines I created for the Winter 2024 Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!

These mini shakers, measuring 3-1/2 x 4-1/4”, are a sweet salutation for any of your loves this Valentine’s Day! To create them, I used a mix of products from Taylored Expressions, Concord & 9th and Gina K. Designs. Take a look:

Supplies | Conversation Candy stamp & stencil combo, Love & Hugs stamp, Stitched Shaker Window die, Poppy ink, Sweet Pea ink, Buttercup ink, Sprout ink, Tidepool ink, Lilac ink, Sweet Pea cardstock, Gina K. Designs blending brushes, Gina K Designs Amalgam ink - Obsidian, Gina K Designs Rainbow Heart embellishment, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam strips, Rose Quartz Misti, SB.com reverse tweezers, LDRS Creative Stampendable

To start, I stamped an A2-sized white cardstock panel with the Conversation Candy stamp, part of the Conversation Candy Stamp & Stencil combo, and Ranger embossing ink. I added white embossing powder and heat set the candy sentiments onto my background. Then, I lined up the first of three Conversation Candy stencils. I love that by using three different stencils, you eliminate the need to mask off!

I blended in a gradient, working in rainbow hues from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of the card. (You can see all of the colors I used in the supply list above!) Once my panel was blended, I die-cut it using a stitched frame die to create the outer frame, then with a heart die in the center. I knew that this would be a bulky card, so as not to add any more bulk, I added only the frame of a pink piece of cardstock on the very outside of the card front, a folded 7 x 8-1/2” piece of 100 lb. white cardstock. Then it was time to create my shaker!

I added the ink-blended frame to the inside of the pink frame on the folded card panel. Then, I backed the die cut heart with acetate and added Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam adhesive around the back side of the heart cut-out and the outside of the center panel. Before adhering, I added Gina K. Designs Rainbow Hearts, the cutest, tiniest clay hearts, and some silver sequins to the center of the panel for the shaker pieces, adhering just a few for effect.

To finish the cards, I stamped the Love and Hugs sentiments with Gina K. Designs black amalgam ink (my favorite black ink!) and die cut with Love and Hugs dies before adhering to the card front.

I just love these sweet and small cards! Want to see them come together in a video? Watch the process on the Scrapbook & Cards Today YouTube channel:
