Spellbinders Stitchmas Day Three: An Elegant Stitched Tree on a Sparkling Sunburst Background

The day three die set features one of my favorite designs in the advent so far—a modern Christmas tree with a gorgeous pierced pattern, a star topper, a scalloped base, and two stitched banners that read happy holidays. It’s such a fun combination of classic and contemporary!
For my tree, I went with a traditional holiday palette using ColorWheel cardstock and shiny gold accents from the gold Treasured Cardstock pack.
The stitching on this one is nice and easy—perfect for easing into your crafty groove. I matched my embroidery thread to the Poppy red cardstock to give the banners a bold, coordinated look.
To create a background worthy of this beautiful tree, I reached for the Sparkle Background Glimmer Hot Foil Plate from the Shine Bright collection by Carissa Wiley. This plate creates the most spectacular sunburst effect, and it’s currently deeply discounted, so grab it while you can!
Here’s how I created the background design:
I started with a Chiffon A2 card panel and centered the circular part of the plate.
Using gold foil, I foiled half of the panel first on my Glimmer platform and then ran it through the Platinum 6 machine.
I repeated the exact process on the opposite side to complete the radiating sunburst.
Once foiled, I trimmed the panel using the Precision Layering A2 Dies (also on SALE!) and layered it over a Poppy red cardstock frame for a bold, festive finish.
This background turned out so shiny and elegant—just perfect for letting the stitched tree shine!
With the background complete, all that was left was to adhere my fully stitched tree to the foiled panel. The combination of metallic shine, clean stitching, and modern design makes this card look like a million bucks!
