Spellbinders Stitchmas Day Five: A Rustic Winter Treat
/Welcome back, friends! It’s time for day five of the 12 Days of Stitchmas—a festive advent-style celebration from Spellbinders that brings together two of my favorite things: cardmaking and stitching! Every day for these 12 days, I’ll be sharing a new Instagram Reel and a new card created with these adorable stitching dies, so be sure to follow me over on Instagram!

Today’s die set is one that warms my crafty heart—a cozy cocoa cup featuring stitched trees on the front, plus all the fixings: overflowing cocoa, a fluffy mound of whipped cream, three marshmallows, and a festive straw. It’s adorable, versatile, and perfect for building a wintery scene.
Instead of a traditional Christmas palette, I went with a deep blue for my cup, stitching the front trees in a soft ivory. The contrast feels wintry and calm—almost like a cabin mug you’d reach for after a snowy walk outside.
To build my scene, I paired today’s die set with:
Whimsical Bottle Brush Trees from the Timeless Trees collection
Very Best Wishes Sentiments Clear Stamp & Die Set
For the card base, I created a winter backdrop using Splatter White medium to add gentle snowfall over a blue inked panel. This instantly sets the mood and helps the stitched cup pop.
Next, I created a tabletop for my scene using the Bark Embossing Folder from the Timeless Trees collection. The woodgrain texture adds warmth and dimension, especially when paired with the Mirrored Arched Labels dies, which I used to cut an opening to frame the design.
Once the background was ready, it was time to arrange all of the elements:
Bottlebrush trees: I clustered three trees on the right side of the frame for balance and height.
Cocoa cup: Before adhering it, I ink-blended the whipped cream to give it a cinnamon-dusted finish—my favorite detail on the card!
Cup placement: I placed the cocoa cup at the bottom left of the framed opening so it feels grounded in the scene.
Sentiment: I stamped and added the “warm wishes” greeting at the top left of the frame opening, balancing the composition.
No winter scene is complete without a touch of sparkle! I added a bit of white Pops of Color to the tops of the bottlebrush trees, then dipped them into fine glitter for a subtle snowy shimmer.
This card has such a different vibe from the previous Stitchmas projects—more rustic, woodsy, and understated—but I absolutely love how it turned out! It’s cozy, charming, and full of winter warmth.
