Spellbinders Stitchmas Day Eight: A Frosty, Glimmered Greeting

It’s time for day six of the 12 Days of Stitchmas—a festive advent-style celebration from Spellbinders that brings together two of my favorite things: cardmaking and stitching! Today’s die set brings all the cozy winter charm with a sweet pom pom hat full of stitching possibilities, plus a sentiment banner that reads “snow day.” It’s playful, versatile, and perfect for wintry greetings.
To create a soft, frosty color palette, I die cut the hat from ColorWheel cardstock. I stitched the entire hat using silver metallic thread, which adds just the right amount of shimmer—like freshly fallen snow on a cold morning.
For today’s accent product, I pulled out the July 2025 Arctic Glimmer Glimmer of the Month. I happened to have a slightly crooked—but beautifully foiled—card panel saved from a previous crafting session, along with an extra “sending winter hugs” sentiment foiled in silver Glimmer foil. Perfect for today!
To shape the background, I die cut the foiled panel using the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Etched Dies. Then, using the same die set, I cut two plain ovals to create a contrasting frame, adhering it around the foiled oval for extra depth and detail.
With all the pieces ready, it was time to bring the scene together:
I adhered the foiled “sending winter hugs” sentiment at the bottom of the card front.
Above it, I added the framed, foiled oval.
Using foam adhesive, I attached the stitched pom pom hat slightly tilted at the lower right of the oval—so cute and cozy!
The silver stitching reminded me of the snowflake from the day six die set, so I cut that snowflake three times from silver glitter Treasured Cardstock and scattered them around the focal panel for extra sparkle.
This soft, wintry palette combined with metallic accents makes today’s card feel frosty, fresh, and full of cheer—just perfect for sending warm wishes during the chilly months ahead.
